KNU Ranks 122nd in the World for Regional Research Reputation; 204th for Physics and Agricultural Science
US News & World Report, a renowned US-based corporation that produces university rankings, has released their 2020 findings. Fifty-one Korean universities made the list, including Kyungpook National University, which ranked #10 on the peninsula and #1 amongst Korean national universities. KNU furthermore ranked 4th in Physics and 6th in Agricultural Sciences, both coming in at the 204 spot worldwide, in recognition of KNU’s world-class research competitiveness.

THE World University Rankings
Kyungpook National University ranked No. 99 in the world, No. 3 in Korea and No. 1 national university in the World University Impact Rankings 2020 announced by Times Higher Education (THE), a British global university evaluation agency. THE World University Impact Assessment was first calculated last year and uses social and global responsibilities of higher education institutions as its main yardstick, unlike previous evaluations that focus on education and research results. Evaluation criteria include the degree of contribution to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 2015. In this year’s evaluation, 857 universities from 89 countries participated in the evaluation. Kyungpook National University entered the world’s top 100 list for the first time, ranking 99th in the world, 13th in industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG9) 36th in hunger resolution (SDG2), 81st for quality jobs and economic growth (SDG8), and 98th in cooperation for sustainable development (SDG17).
